Conference Surfing Medicine!

Come to our first conference on surfing medicine in Europe! The European Association of Surfing Doctors, with its partners SurfAid International, and Surfrider Foundation will be holding its first annual conference on surfing medicine in Sagres, Portugal, from June 8-10, 2012. Application for this conference is open to all doctors and medical students interested in surfing-related medicine.

IMSSC was the first student congress of medical sciences and since 2006, it has been organized by Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine biannually. We are proud to welcome you to IMSSC for the 23rd time.

IMSSC aims to bring medical students from all around the world in order to present their research, share their experiences, learn most current developments, interact with other students and enjoy the beauty of Istanbul. Throughout the conference, delegates will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, discuss their work and gain different aspects on medical subjects.

4th International Student Medical Congress in Košice (ISMCK 2012) is taking place in Košice, Slovakia and invites all medical students and young doctors under 35 years to present their works from fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacology, public health and biomedical sciences. Passive participation has got no limits. You can present results of your research or exchange ideas through oral or poster presentation in winning cathegories basic science, clinical medicine, dentistry, public health, pharmacology and PhD

students´ work. Moreover, we are preparing interesting workshops, trainings on special skills and great social program where you will get the chance to get to know Slovak culture. You are more than welcome to share here your scientific and non scientific ideas, subjects and opinions!

Dear EMSA members,

Here another event from EMSA Yeditepe, International Congress on Medicineand Law. ICML 2011 which will be organized by EMSA-Turkey and ELSA(European Law Students' Association)  is an international platform which is a gathering for young scientists in the fieldsof biomedical sciences, ethics and law. ICML is 2011's most expanded scientificevent where you will be able to learn from masters and where you can spreadideas among your peers.

ThroughICML you will be able to learn more about ethical and legal issues botheringboth doctors and lawyers. There is a big need for discussions about newly arrangedlaw codes all around the world. Different contributions from all corners of theglobe will create a great chance to increase our knowledge about law and ethics.

TheCongress will be divided into 4 sections in three different days which are,Medical Science/Law(in different conference halls), Medical Ethics and MedicalLaw.

·        In the first day of the congress today's fundamentalethical issues will be discussed by our key speakers with your contributions. Theprogressions we are witnessing in the scientific world, bring numerous dilemmasand questions in minds. These situations also reveal an endless area forresearches in means of bioethics. We believe that a Medical Congress shouldhave a divided section for Bioethics to discuss the conflicts and their resultsin a detailed manner.

The young promising researchers will have the oppurtunity topresent their researches and reviews related with medical ethics disciplineduring  the session.

·        The second day of the the congress is dividedinto Medical Science and Law in two different conference halls next to eachother. There will be Medical Science Section in one hall which includes basicmedical science (ex: microbiology, pathology, pharmacology), medicine (ex:endocrinology, nephrology, gastroenterology, neurology) and surgery (ex:Cardiothoracic surgery, Othopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology). In addition, therewill be Law Section for attendees who are intrested in Law subjects.

To begin with, in Medical Science section there will be anintroduction of a key speaker in each three subdivisions; basic medicalsciences, medicine and surgery. Each part will continue with oralpresentations. In these sections all the participants will share their originalresearches which they directed or be involved under their mentor's direction.These presentations will be judged by our unique scientific jury and the bestpresentation will be awarded after completion of all presentations.

In the other hall, There will be a conference for especially lawstudents where new law codes and lawyer's responsibilities will be discussed by10 different academicians who are specialized in their subjects.

·        The third day will be Medical Law day and willcontinue with the social program on fourth day. In Medical Law Section, younglawyers and doctors will present the legal arrangements in their countries.They will declare the law codes and discuss its effects on both public andhealth care providers, and will contribute with their point of view to enhancethe idea of the law code under survellience of ICML's scientific jury.

Participantsare free to attend any of the conferences through the day. After Those Sectionsthere will be Workshops, where we learn more and improve our skills more.

The participants will be able to make presentations aboutMedical Law, Medical Ethics and Medicine. Each presentation guideline isavailable on our website (www.icml2011.com) under each topic in our ScientificProgram.

To make a brief explanation, you canmake a presentation of both your current research or a review you made. You canmake a Review Presentation about Medical Ethics Section and Medical LawSection. Review topics are declared under related pages on our website. YoungScientists can make a Research Presentation in Medical Secience Session, ICMLdo not accept Review Presentations in Medical Science Session.

Uniting Streams is proud to announce its 8th annual symposium on research in International Health, entitled:

‘A Perfect Match?! Connecting NGOs and Academia in Research for Global Health’

to be held on Wednesday September 14^th 2011 in De Rode Hoed in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (www.derodehoed.nl).

The symposium is a collaborative effort between Uniting Streams, the Dutch Society of Tropical Medicine & International Health (NVTG), the Netherlands Platform for Health Policy and Health Services Research, Cordaid/Memisa, Wemos and the association of Dutch tropical doctors-in-training (TROIE).

It will bring together health-oriented NGOs and academic institutions around International Health research. Whereas such alliances can be mutually beneficial, their actual realisation is not always so straightforward. The symposium aims to highlight obstacles and opportunities in this process.
